What Shelf stores
The links you save — their titles, short descriptions, categories, preview images and whether you've opened them — are stored on your iPhone, in storage shared between the Shelf app and its share extension. They are not uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
What leaves your device
When you save a link, Link Shelf requests that page so it can show you a title and a preview image. That request goes to the site you saved, exactly as it would if you opened the link in Safari. For X links, Link Shelf asks X's public embed service for the post's text; for YouTube links, YouTube's public embed service. We do not see these requests and we do not log them.
Preview images and site icons are loaded from the sites that host them when Link Shelf displays them.
Descriptions
The short description under each link ("Shakshuka recipe") is written on your iPhone — by Apple's on-device model where your phone has Apple Intelligence, otherwise by Link Shelf itself. It never leaves the device.
Clipboard
When you open Link Shelf, it checks whether the clipboard holds a link, without reading it. The link is only read when you tap Paste.
Notifications
If you turn on the weekly digest, the reminder is scheduled locally on your iPhone. Nothing is sent through a server.
The updates list (optional)
When you first open Link Shelf, it asks whether you'd like occasional news — new features, like sync or a web version, as they land. If you enter your email address, we store it along with the date, your device language and the app version, and use it only to send those updates. We don't sell it, share it or use it for advertising anywhere else.
Skipping this costs nothing; the app works exactly the same. To leave the list, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us and we'll delete your address.
Children
Link Shelf is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect a child's email address.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
